snobbery

it's time for me to finally admit what i have known for sometime--i am a church snob. i don't know if this is as bad as it sounds, but it is taking it's toll on my ability to worship.
when i moved to nashville i started attending a church that was everything that i wanted; choir, weekly communion, great preaching, good music (i like hymns), etc. for the first time in my life i felt worshipful--like i was actually worshipping God and not just there for the sake of being there.
even then, a friend and i visited a lot of other churches to see what they were like and i frequently came away with at least something negative to say.
now i live in seattle and i have been trying to find a church home ever since i arrived. this has proven to be a difficult task. it's not that all of the churches that i have attended have been bad, in fact some of them have been great, but they just aren't firing on all cylinders.
also, my girlfriend and i are trying to find a place where we both feel comfortable worshipping. church snob+normal girl=no place to go.
i have had some success mitigating my prejudice against churches, but i truly desire to find a place where i can be worshipful during the whole service. i know this is pretty much all my fault because most of the places we've been are preaching the gospel (and doing it pretty well).
so there you have it. i, church snob, don't know what to do. either i need to calm down and relax or all churches should come to me for a symposium on how to conduct worship. i prefer the latter.
