little children

we have known the father because we are his children (paraphrase 1 john 2.13b).
we are citizens of heaven and participate in the age to come. how is it that the things of this age can take our love of the father away from us? how is it that we find greater love and comfort in the things that we desire and not with the father to whom we belong with?
it is a great deception that we need anything other than him. however, he provides us will all that we have. the problem lies in not being thankful to God for what we have given and praising ourselves for what we have attained.
the devil has already been defeated; the cross took care of that. why do we continue to fear the world and our place in it? why do we seek money or things that are not only fleeting, but will compromise our love for the father?
i am guilty.
just a few thoughts for a lazy sunday.
here is the sermon that inspired this.

You are not guilty...you are accounted as righteous!
"No condemnation now I dread;
All in Christ Jesus now is mine!
Alive in Him, my living Head,
And clothed in righteousness divine, Bold I approach my Sovereign's throne, And know the life of Christ my own."

thank you for your comment. i wasn't suggesting that i did not possess the righteosnss of christ, but merely pointing out that i tend to focus on the material or fleeting things of this world rather than the giver of said righteousness. i wish this was not the case.
i am glad you felt free to comment. i always wonder about anonimity in comment sections. i don't even know if you know me and therefore it's hard to interpret your comment--i don't know your heart. i hope you will be bold and sign your name.
