long days
friday and saturday i had impact of abuse for 8 hours each day, not only is it a long time to be in class continuously, but it's not the easiest of subjects to mire through and be attentive to for such a long time. we discussed oppression, racism, and several other subjects that were hard, hard, hard. any of you that have discussed classes at mhgs with me know that you are never just 'learning' about a subject, but you are required to dig deep and analyze how you fit into certain categories and how these things have affected you directly. it's almost hard for me to admit how much this experience is changing my life, but i admit it. you should come here, whoever you are, it will set you free.
tomorrow is another full day of school, but perhaps it will be a little easier since it will be split up, but i am still exhausted and the workload is beginning to pile up.
i finished the count of monte cristo tonight. holy crap. read this book, they don't call it a classic for nothing. it's a big read (about 600 pages (unfortunately i read a slightly abridged version without realizing it until about half way through)), but very much worth the time. i read it in about a week, if that gives you any idea of how captivating it was. it's not easy for me to forsake my school reading in lieu of a novel, but in this case it was almost too easy. read it, that is all.
best of wishes to everyone. i have turned a lot of corners lately and have been really broken by a few things, which i hope to discuss further here. but for now, be honest, be strong, be bold, and do not fear.
i am starting to love. it feels nice. tears are something that i am unfamiliar with, but i am beginning to welcome them.
